Overall, Among the Nameless Stars was a good prequel novella.

This makes me wonder if he keeps up doing it in the following installments since they were pretty insightful towards his feelings and a nice way to clear away a few doubts about what was going on.

They were his way of expressing his fears, hopes, and dreams, of trying not to feel alone in this scary world. The letters he would write for Elliot were sweet and at times funny, but also quite sad. There’s a whole lot of him that I don’t understand, like his intense love for Elliot and what happened to make him decide to leave his hometown, but from the short glimpse we get of him, he’s someone who just wants to know and test the boundaries of his existence. I liked Kai as a character and his smart young mind. Unfortunately, this place doesn’t live up to his expectations and his freedom is snatched away by a ruthless illiterate yet rich Post as he forces him into a life of servitude. His journey is hard and almost deadly, but thanks to the help of people living near the volcanic wasteland, he manages to arrive at Channel City. Kai is a low-class person (Post) who just escaped from the North Estate to purchase a new “free” life in the big city. Right now, I’m not sure if I made the right decision since, for the most part, I was confused about the storyline and the terms/social classes were hard for me to remember, but I can say that I am intrigued by the main character and I want to know more about him.
